Found a way to connect to City of Heroes even through the freakin' firewall they have.
Your Freedom awaits.
=^.^=It'd be approximately $5.50/month
if you play more than 18 hours a week or 6 hours in a single day. I'm still researching how to get it to connect through PuTTY instead though.

That's okay; it'd still be cheap. However, the school network may have blocked this; they had blocked the other service I tried out for this, so I'll have to give it a shot after I move.

...Your Freedom isn't the required bit it turns out, ProxyCap is, and that's a flat $30 piece of software after the 30-day trial version runs out. Your Freedom is just a dynamically-roaming SOCKS proxy network, you don't need that part. I can step you through setting up PuTTY to do what YF does, and you can bounce through one of the servers I have access to.
I'll tinker and make sure it works first, obviously. :-) So yeah... we'll figure out a way around this yet! And if they block honest-to-goodness PuTTY SSH over standard ports... well, I'll be amazed.

City of Heroes occasionally has free weekends, does 'freebie' trial offers (free 2 weeks) about once or twice every year, and I have a 14-day time trial coupon I still haven't used yet.

You can send trial codes to friends by email, and if they reference you, and pays a month subscription after the trial, you get a month free. :)
