[User Picture]03:21 am - Well... I guess 128MB CAN run WinXP happily.
Themes got disabled, as did most cruft. Memory usage looks like this now:
SVCHOST.EXE9,008K
SVCHOST.EXE1,492K
LSASS.EXE928K
SERVICES.EXE1,860K
WINLOGON.EXE568K
CSRSS.EXE2,540K
SMSS.EXE32K
System36K

Obviously, this excludes the 'volatile' and transient stuff (explorer.exe, taskmgr.exe), or 'ignorable' stuff (System Idle Process) for hopefully-obvious reasons.

Still, a total memory usage of 16,464K is pretty good for WinXP. :-)

I do SO dearly wish someone would write a stripped-down shell replacement though. No new features, no skins, no themes, no bullshit, just a stripped-down shell. I mean... really, is 20MB needed for the SHELL?!? That's more than the remainder of the system is using at the moment. =^.^=3 commentsLeave a comment
