[User Picture]08:44 pm - Completely seperate, but something else I'm working on.
Namely... I'm rebuilding the MekTon Zeta gamesystem, or more precisely I'm extracting the Mecha Construction system, and converting it to a more standardized mathematics basis, trying to remove all the tables I can from it, and replace the funky rounding bugs that everyone that used the system hated with math that doesn't need to round when I can at all avoid it.

A side-effect from my chosen conversion-point is that down-scaling will vanish, simplifying things, and that the numerical detail on parts will gain a full two decimal places, from a simple 1-12/1-20 range, to a fixed 1-2000 range across the board in numerous places. So the system will be suitable for building everything from a handgun to a hundred-ton assault mecha from Gundam Wing. Up-scaling is staying, but being rebuilt later, to support things un the realm of thousands, and millions of tons.

Yes, it's Yet Another Iron In The Fire for me, but it's something to get my mind off of my current troubles when I can't work on anything else. So is anyone even remotely interested in this rebuild I'm doing? And if so, should I work at re-implementing the 'hex-based' movement to more easilly handle arbitrary meters of movement, a la Car Wars with the Turning Key? Or some other method? And how should I handle pilot-generation? Any votes from the folks out there?0 commentsLeave a comment
