[User Picture]04:30 am - And another car post...
...priced out the cost for the majority of the supplies needed to replace my brakes with remanufactured (effectively and damn nearly brand new) all-wheel disc brakes... it's about what I expected. The unloaded calipers and master brake cylinder will run me around $450, sourced out entirely through the local Kragen. That'll only be the main hardware, sans rotors or pads. A set of steel-hose brake lines (the original ones are rubber) will run me around $150.

Good, quiet, Greenstuff pads will run me about $85 for a full set for all four wheels, and a good set of new Brembo rotors will run me around $250 for a full set.

So, to overhaul my brakes will cost around $1000 for the parts, and another $250 for labor, and it's an even $1250 to replace the entire brake system.

So... in about four months I should have that done. I'm only dropping every other paycheck towards the car, and the next two such cycles are taken towards paying to get all the body-work I want done in the front all at once, and sourcing the replacement seat assembly for the car, and minor engine maintenance.

Next two months (ending six months from now) will be put towards replacing the doors one at a time, then another month towards replacing the back hatch, and the car is starting to approach complete. Then comes the "Long Drought" towards saving up for the new engine before the car is done.0 commentsLeave a comment
